What happens when I start a session?
The timer starts and begins measuring focus in parallel. As long as MySTDY stays in the foreground on your phone, the time counts as focused. If you leave the app, that time still exists in the session — it just counts as drift rather than focus.
What is the Study Score?
A number for the session that reflects how focused the time was, how much of it drifted, and how consistent you've been. Not a grade, not a ranking. Just an honest reading.
Why not just count hours?
Because hours can be faked. Everyone already knows the student who spends all day in the library but gets less done than a friend who's in and out in two hours. MySTDY measures the difference.
What counts as 'focus' in MySTDY?
Time where MySTDY is the active app on your phone while the timer is running. Leave the app and that portion of time is logged as drift rather than focus — the session still counts, the number just reflects it.
Does MySTDY read my notifications or messages?
No. MySTDY only knows whether its own app is in the foreground. It has no access to anything else on your phone.
Can I edit a session after it's finished?
You can correct the subject and add notes. You can't inflate the duration or the score.
What if I need to take a break during a session?
Pausing stops the clock cleanly. A paused session is neither drift nor focus — it simply isn't counted until you resume.
Can I study privately, without my friends seeing?
Yes. Any session can be marked private before you start.
Who can see my Study Score?
Only the small group of friends you share sessions with. School- and programme-level averages are aggregated and anonymised — no individual's score is visible outside their friends.
Is there a leaderboard?
Not between individuals. The only ranking MySTDY shows at launch is average Study Score per school and per programme — so universities can see where they stand, not students.
Does MySTDY work offline?
The timer runs offline. Your score syncs the next time you're online.
Is there a web version?
Not at launch. MySTDY is built around being on your phone while you study.
How is MySTDY different from Forest, YPT, or Study-Track?
Those apps count time. MySTDY counts focus.
